Questions
What AC size do I need for my room?
As a rough guide for Indian summers: up to about 120 sq ft — 1 ton, 120–180 sq ft — 1.5 ton, 180–250 sq ft — 2 ton, for a 10 ft ceiling on a middle floor. Top floors, west-facing rooms and more people need more.
What does 1 ton of AC mean?
1 ton of refrigeration removes 12,000 BTU of heat per hour (about 3.52 kW of cooling). It is the cooling power, not the weight or the electricity used.
Is a bigger AC always better?
No. An oversized AC cools quickly but switches off before removing humidity, leaving the room clammy, and costs more. An inverter AC sized correctly gives the best comfort and lowest bills.
