Questions
Which date format is used in India?
India normally writes dates day first — DD/MM/YYYY, e.g. 17/10/2026. The US writes month first (10/17/2026), which can cause confusion. The ISO 8601 format YYYY-MM-DD (2026-10-17) is unambiguous and best for files and software.
What is the Saka calendar?
The Indian National Calendar (Saka era), adopted in 1957, is used alongside the Gregorian calendar in the Gazette of India and on All India Radio. Its year starts on 22 March (21 March in leap years) and Saka year = Gregorian year − 78 (− 79 before 22 March).
How are the Indian language dates produced?
They use your browser's built-in Unicode (CLDR) locale data for Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati, so the spelling follows standard conventions.
