Linear Equation Solver (Cramer's Rule)
Solve 2 or 3 simultaneous linear equations with Cramer's rule — determinants and step-by-step working.

How to use
- 1
Choose 2 or 3 variables.
- 2
Type the coefficients of each equation, e.g. 2x + 3y = 13.
- 3
See x, y (and z) as fractions and decimals with every determinant worked out.
Questions
What is Cramer's rule?
For a system with coefficient determinant D ≠ 0, each variable equals Dᵢ ÷ D, where Dᵢ is D with that variable's column replaced by the constants. For 2x + 3y = 13 and x − y = −1: D = −5, Dx = −10, Dy = −15, so x = 2 and y = 3.
What if the determinant D is 0?
Then there is no single solution. The equations either contradict each other (parallel lines — no solution) or describe the same line or plane (infinitely many solutions). The calculator tells you which.
How do I enter x − y = −1?
Type the coefficients 1 and −1 and the constant −1. Use 0 for a missing variable.
