Questions
Why add inflation?
Prices rise every year. A goal that costs ₹20 lakh today will cost about ₹35.8 lakh in 10 years at 6% inflation, so you must save for the future price.
What return should I assume?
Use a lower return for short goals (debt funds, deposits: 6–7%) and a higher one only for long goals invested in equity (10–12%). Being conservative is safer.
