Questions
What is Pythagoras' theorem?
In a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides: c² = a² + b². For 3, 4 and 5: 9 + 16 = 25.
What are sin, cos and tan?
For angle A: sin A = opposite ÷ hypotenuse, cos A = adjacent ÷ hypotenuse and tan A = opposite ÷ adjacent (remember SOH-CAH-TOA).
What is a Pythagorean triple?
Three whole numbers that fit c² = a² + b², like 3-4-5, 5-12-13, 8-15-17 and 7-24-25. Any multiple, such as 6-8-10, also works.
