Questions
encodeURIComponent or encodeURI?
Use “component” for a single value such as a search term — it also encodes / ? & = #. Use “full URL” for a complete address, which keeps those separators intact.
Why does a space become %20 or +?
In percent-encoding a space is %20. In HTML form submissions the query string uses + for spaces; the parameter table here decodes both.
Is my URL sent anywhere?
No. Everything is processed in your browser.
